YOUNG PROFESSIONALS CLUBS FROM ESTONIA, LATVIA AND LITHUANIA

It all started when a small group of energetic, smart and passionate library science students from Latvia decided to join forces to promote the young professionals movement in Latvia and abroad. On April 15, 2009 Latvian Librarians' Association's New Professionals Section was founded.

Five years later on February 4, 2014 during the 9th Congress of the Lithuanian Librarians’ Association Lithuanians followed the footsteps of the Latvians and formed a Young Professionals Section too.

On March 2014, the Latvians organized an event "4CanGurus“  for young professionals from Baltic countries where they shared their knowledge and experiences of having a New Professionals Section. This was a great encouragement for Estonians to come together and form a Young Professionals Club as well. The club was founded on May 1, 2014.

All three clubs/sections were established to promote the development of librarianship by giving young information specialists opportunities to exchange ideas, experiences and thoughts about the profession and encourage professional development.
