In 2015 the National Library of Sweden was given the task of proposing a national development strategy for the entire library sector. The proposal, “The Treasure Trove of Democracy” was presented to the Minister of Culture in mars 2019 and is presently being considered by the government. For the National Library the process of compiling the proposal has been both challenging and instructive. This presentation will focus on lessons learnt and experiences gained from the process. It will also give a brief summary of the proposal and it’s reception within the library community.
